Cue sports (sometimes written cuesports), also known as billiard sports, are a wide variety of games of skill generally played with a cue stick which is used to strike billiard balls, moving them around a cloth-covered billiards table bounded by rubber cushions. Historically, the umbrella term was billiards. While that familiar name is still employed by some as a generic label for all such games, the word's usage has splintered into more exclusive competing meanings in various parts of the world. For example, in British and Australian English, "billiards" usually refers exclusively to the game of English billiards, while in American and Canadian English it is sometimes used to refer to a particular game or class of games, or to all cue games in general, depending upon dialect and context. There are three major subdivisions of games within cue sports:
More obscurely, there are games that make use of obstacles and targets, and table-top games played with disks instead of balls. Billiards has a long and rich history stretching from its inception in the 15th century; to the wrapping of the body of Mary, Queen of Scots, in her billiard table cover in 1586; through its many mentions in the works of Shakespeare, including the famous line "let's to billiards" in Antony and Cleopatra (1606–07); and through the many famous enthusiasts of the sport including, Mozart, Louis XIV of France, Marie Antoinette, Immanuel Kant, Napoleon, Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, George Washington, French president Jules Grévy, Charles Dickens, George Armstrong Custer, Theodore Roosevelt, Lewis Carroll, W.C. Fields, Babe Ruth, Bob Hope, Jackie Gleason, and many others. From Wikipedia under the

I am looking most at sports authority. I can't find a product or price. I don't own eaither of the products. Do you have any suggestions of to where I can find it? Also, should I get a pool table and then get a converter? Please give me your thoughts. Thanks in advance. Asked by yankeesatit321 - Mon May 17 20:01:21 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. It depends really. Do you actually want a playable pool table or just some junk that will be useless to play pool on in a year? If you said the first one, than buy a slate bed pool table. If it isn't slate it will warp. Answered by Brew City - Tue May 18 01:26:28 2010 Does playing billiards put alot of stress on the sternum? Q. I recently had open heart surgery. So can i shoot some pool any time soon? I was an avid billiards player before my surgery. Asked by Louis - Tue Dec 4 18:25:02 2007 - - 4 Answers - 1 Comments A. I can't imagine how, unless you lean it on a corner of the table. I would think it is a great way to relieve stress after you have recovered. But wait until you can move your arms without pain, and the sternum incision has healed. The bones are likely wired shut, like mine. Answered by Laurence W - Tue Dec 4 21:50:22 2007 Why is the sport of billiards segregated by gender in competitive play?
Q. It is understood that women cannot compete at the level of men in some sports. But how much can physical strength be a factor when shooting pool? Asked by J K - Mon Mar 9 03:56:43 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Great to see you back straight. Regarding the question, even Jeanette Lee concedes that men have more opportunities at the table because they have more powerful break shots which increases their chances of making a ball on the break (see link). Jennifer Barretta also says something similar in her Penthouse interview from 2005 (it's on her website). Since they play the game well, I'd have to believe them.
